The Green Elephant

Yesterday, went to a BJD Yard Sale.

It was pretty fun. Lots of stuff to see. Lots of nice people.

I got NOTHING, however. That just doesn't seem right.

Anyway, so last night, I heard a truck pull up to the old Clara's Coffee Shop and then a bunch of noise. It's sat empty for so long, I couldn't imagine what they were doing.  But this morning, walking to work, I saw.

We have a new neighbor. "Green Elephant: Thrift & Consignment". Huh.

I borrowed Madera's camera, 'cause I thought if it was something interesting you guys might want to see it too.

So, this is it. Looks kind of interesting.

They have some pretty cool stuff, and I REALLY want that glass bird (I collect glass animals, just in case you were wondering what to get me for Christmas).

This must be THE Green Elephant. Huh.

Some strange stuff in here.

Kind of cool. I would love to see more.

I didn't see their hours anywhere, though. So I'll just have to check back again sometime. I was kind of hoping we'd get a deli, or somewhere for food. But I guess a thrift store is okay too. Pixies always need more stuff.

I'll let you know when I get to go shopping there. I didn't see any sign of anyone. Maybe they're closed on Sundays. *shrug*

The Return of Lenore & Cybelle and a Fawn Update

I am the worst pixie finder EVER.

Lenore and Cybelle came home THEMSELVES. Apparently the huge rainstorm we had last week was the end for Cybelle, who didn't like being outside anyway. Fall is coming, the nights are cold, and Cybelle convinced Lenore to bring her back inside.

No pictures exist of a Cybelle anything but prettied up. She's that kind of girl. So, after they got all cleaned up and settled a bit...

... I had a long talk with Cybelle. I think she knows that Wendy would've never sold her, but it was really sweet and noble of Lenore to hide her, just in case.  I know she's grateful for Lenore trying to save her, but I think she's really happy to be home too.

I found her outside, walking around a bit today, so I'm glad to report she doesn't seem too afraid of being outdoors.

As long as she gets to wear her beautiful, clean clothes and knows she can come back inside any time. Poor thing. She's just not an outdoorsy girl.

Lenore was out and about today too. All cleaned up, but still looking a bit of a wild thing. I think she's happy to be home too.

Though she has a bit of an attitude about her. You see, I don't think Miss Lenore liked what was waiting at home when she got here. She is very, VERY angry about Fawn (to the surprise of no one.) And, to be honest, I don't blame her.

Fawn has changed a bit from the girl who came home with us from DDE all those months ago, and she has stolen Wendy's heart. Everyone can see it, though she denies having favorites.

The problem is, Lenore sees Fawn as an interloper who has come in to steal her place in the Wylde Kingdom, and Fawn sees Lenore as a spoiled ingrate of a doll, running away from the perfect, loving home Fawn always dreamed of having.

And now that Fawn is here, I think she's very determined to STAY here.

She is still weak from all of her time in storage, and her legs still don't work quite right all the time.

But she's up and around, even if it is on crutches for the time being, and she's stronger every day. She is one determined little girl. Hopefully, she and Lenore will eventually realize there's room enough here for both of them. I guess we'll see.

Anyway, I can't believe I couldn't find them. I suck as a tracker. With or without tracking dogs.

But I am really glad they're home. Welcome home, Lenore and Cybelle!

Tracking Dogs - Trying to Find Lenore

Now that the show is over, and I have my spiffy camper so I can cover more ground more easily, I can start really searching for Lenore and Cybelle.  When I first mentioned that I was looking for them in the wilderness, but not having much luck, someone very clever suggested in the comments that I needed a tracking dog. I think that's brilliant!

I went straight to Norm's Dollhouse and asked Hank, the guy who also owns the shooting range, about hunting/tracking dogs. He said he could set me up with the best, and to take my pick!

But some just didn't seem all that interested in tracking.

Some just wanted to play and be petted.

And the one who seemed most determined to find things, was the one I thought I would need to get ANOTHER dog to find once it got lost in the grass.

*sigh* Well, back to the doggie drawing board.

Fall Miniatures Show - Day 3

Now that my Wanderversary is over, I can get back to regular blogging. :)

More random pictures from the final day of the Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls and Toys Fall Show. We had such a great time.

Aspen and I, hanging out in the car with our spiffy badges, just waiting to get in.

The more I hung around this little market stall, the more I found myself thinking that we need one in the Kingdom. It would be really handy when ice skating season comes around again.

Speaking of things we need around the Wylde Kingdom, Aspen and I checked out the "Larimer Shop" that Wendy and David donated to the museum for their auction.

It's pretty cool. I think Aspen was really enchanted with it. She started coming up with plans for what she'd do with it if she won the raffle.

We looked at the other raffle items too. A doll behind glass, which I think is far more terrifying for dolls like Aspen and I than you human types realize. *shudder*

There was this incredible oil painting donated by an amazing painter. He does the most amazing things. It's not a print, or a photograph of great art, it's an actual, tiny, oil painting. Amazing! Next year I will bring one of his pieces home. Oh yes. I will. But well, it couldn't hurt to try to win it. Right? Right.

Hope springs eternal, and we asked Wendy to fill out some raffle tickets for us.

I put in for the painting.

And Aspen and I both went in for the Larimer shop.

Aspen really seemed to have her heart set on winning that little shop. I knew better. I remembered losing the raffle for the Curiosity Shop last year. Ugh.

She just kept watching the announcer, waiting for the raffle to start.

When it started, Aspen went completely silent and still. Like a deer caught in the headlights. They read the raffle winners for all the other items.

Her little Larimer Shop was the next to last item (the last being my painting, which I didn't win. But I didn't expect to, so it's okay).

Unsurprising (to me, anyway) she didn't win the shop. I tried to comfort her and tell her that we're going to build one for the Wylde Kingdom and maybe Wendy would let her run it. But it didn't seem to help much.

Poor kid. I wonder what kind of shop she would've made it into anyway. Well, I guess we'll find out once we get ours built. Right? Right.

It was a great show, and we had such a fun time. I can't wait to do it all again next year (except maybe Aspen won't get her hopes up so much about the raffle. Poor thing.)

Six Years of Wandering

* We interrupt your regularly scheduled blog, reporting about the Miniatures Show, for this Miranda Wandering Historic Update. *

On this date, 6 years ago, I first began to really wander. That makes this my Wanderversary.

It's been a heck of a trip, let me tell you.

I've met amazing people and pixies.

I've been in some awesome places.

I've done awesome things.

I've seen things I wish I hadn't seen.

And I've seen things I wish I could see again.

Still wandering, after all these years. Who would've thought?

Thank you, all of you, for reading about my wanderings. Even after 6 years of my ramblings. It means a lot, just knowing you're out there. :)

May your wanderings always be full of wonder!

Fall Miniatures Show - Day 2

Some pictures from day 2 at the Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls and Toys Fall Show.

Things were really busy at the booth, so Aspen and I didn't get to wander. AGAIN. But some friends of ours wandered into the show!

My buddies Emma (in the cat ears) and Elphie (snuggling the pumpkin).

I think there was a lot to see, because by the time they came wandering back after seeing everything, Elphie looked a little wiped out.

But they got me a birthday present! A goldfish I named "Splashy" (I dunno, I like it. It just came to mind. What can I say?) It's kind of relaxing watching him swim around, actually.

Thank you so much, Elphie and Emma! I love Splashy and it made the whole day to get to see you at the show!
